At farmers markets, special events, and tastings, Old California Botanicals kept hearing the same question: “Where can I find your products near me?”
The company uses Storemapper on its Shopify website to help customers find its products at 35 retail locations. As founder JP Beall explained, customers might discover the marmalade or fragrances at an event and want to buy them again locally.
“We wanted a simple way to answer that question while also directing customers to the retailers who have invested in carrying our products. Storemapper gave us a way to do both.”
Old California Botanicals’ products are sold through independent boutiques, specialty food stores, garden centers, grocers, and museum shops. Beall says those relationships are central to how the company grows its business.
The products are meant to be experienced in person. Customers can taste a marmalade or smell a botanical fragrance, then find a local shop that carries it. The company’s store locator helps them find those retailers.
“Our retail partners are an extension of that experience,” Beall wrote. “They’re not simply points of distribution; they’re businesses we value and want to see succeed.”
Beall also uses the map with his commission-based sales team. It helps them see where retail partners are located, recognize new partnerships, and identify areas where they may want to grow or focus future outreach.
As new accounts join the network, the team can add them to the locator. Customers get another place to find the products, and the team can see its retail presence in one view.
Beall is a fifth-generation citrus grower in Redlands, California. His family’s agricultural history in the state dates back to 1851.
In 2026, Old California Botanicals’ marmalades received eight honors at the World Marmalade Awards in England, including a Silver for its Navel Orange Marmalade. The company was also recognized as a California State Senate District Small Business of the Year.
